Problems with the University Of Santo Tomas

Problems with the University of  Santo Thomas

In this blog I will show the problems in my current university that i have encountered. These problems are found in the system of UST. This specifically seen in the management of the accounting division, the changing of student status, discrimination between different faith and religion practices, the lack of a representative of a student official in making the students handbook and the updating of the students "MYUSTE" account (https://myuste.ust.edu.ph/student/)

The Problems in University of Santo Tomas

  1. The Accounting Division of  UST
The current system of the accounting division in UST houses a lot of  problems. The first problem the system may cause a student to be not enrolled when the student is paying online . The second problem is that the accounting can't handle the entire 40000 plus students that is enrolling and paying there accounts. This will make you have a two hour wait just to add a single or multiple subject/s.

     2. The changing of the student status in a subject from INC or incomplete to complete

I have experienced a subject that i have recently tried completing . This took at least an entire semester or the equivalent of 3 months and 2 week to complete. This represents a problem if you are enrolling because it can delay you when the subject that is INC is a perquisite of the subject that you are currently trying to enroll

     3.The Discrimination of different religion

I have seen two born again christians practicing their faith in the grounds of the university when a known theology professor was discriminating there faith. This a direct violation of CHED or Commission on Higher Education Memorandum 9 ,article 9, section 30 or the Multi-faith services.
This refers to the "provision of an environment conductive to free expression of one's religious orientation in accordance with institutional principles and policies."

4.The lack of a student representative in making of the students handbook or policy

In my experience the Central Student Council is only elected to handle student related events and protection. But i have never seen a student representative/s be a part in making the students handbook . Which is again stated in the CHED Memorandum 9 ,Article 7, section 17.3. That which states " A representative of the student body must be included in the development and revision of the students handbook.

     5. The updating of MYUSTE accounts

I my experiences the MYUSTE account is the one that gives and updates  the student's status, grades, billing / fees, enrollment and evaluation of teaching and non- teaching staff. But the MYUSTE account is not updated or has a lot of system failures. This also the single references of the accounting ,assessment and enrollment of a student that is not reliable most of the times

In conclusion the University of Santo Tomas is not a student friendly environment . This also shows the accreditation of the university is not felt by every student.
